Massimo and Marco Guerra make it two in a row in G/H/I as Serio and Mischis secure their first E/F victory of the season

20 jul 2026 – The third round of the Canossa Events-organised Alfa Revival Cup pushed both drivers and machinery to their limits in one of the toughest contests of the season. With ambient temperatures exceeding 35°C, track temperatures soaring beyond 50°C and high humidity throughout the day, the 60-minute race at Vallelunga became a true endurance challenge, rewarding consistency, strategy and flawless execution all the way to the chequered flag.

In the G/H/I Group, Alessandro Morteo and Lorenzo Moramarco confirmed the pace they had shown in qualifying by immediately taking the lead aboard their Alfetta GT Turbodelta. Morteo controlled the opening stint, dictating the pace at the front while the first battles began to unfold behind him.

After a difficult start had dropped them back to eleventh place, Mario Salomone and Giacomo Barri produced one of the standout recoveries of the day. Lap after lap, the Alfa Delta OKP pairing fought their way back through the field with a measured and relentless charge, eventually securing an impressive fourth-place finish.

Just behind the leading quartet, an intense fight for fifth place quickly became one of the highlights of the race. Bernhard Laber, Emanuele Benedini, Francesco Siccardi and Giulio Sordi spent much of the opening stint covered by only a handful of seconds, exchanging positions repeatedly in a captivating battle. Siccardi emerged ahead as the pit window approached before Laber’s challenge came to an end when a fuel pick-up issue forced him into retirement.

The mandatory driver change window proved to be the turning point of the Vallelunga round. Moments after taking over the car, Lorenzo Moramarco ran into the gravel following a brake system failure, opening the door for Massimo and Marco Guerra. With Marco at the wheel of the Giulia Sprint GTA, they controlled the race from the front and claimed their second consecutive victory after their success at Varano.

Behind them, Davide Bertinelli of Gatti Team and Alfa Delta OKP’s Roberto Restelli, both driving 1750 GTAm machinery, produced one of the race’s finest battles. Restelli had built a comfortable advantage during the opening stint before a spin shortly before the driver change window allowed Bertinelli to close the gap. After the pit stops, the two remained locked together in a prolonged duel, with the Gatti Team driver constantly applying pressure until making the decisive pass on lap 22. Both crews later received time penalties for an infringement during the driver change procedure, although the sanctions had no effect on the final classification.

Fourth place rewarded the remarkable comeback delivered by Mario Salomone and Giacomo Barri. Francesco Siccardi completed an excellent drive to secure fifth ahead of Francesco Pantaleo and Emanuele Benedini, who remained firmly in contention for a top-five finish throughout the race. Giulio and Mattia Sordi finished seventh in their 1750 GTAm, ahead of Peter Bachofen and Dario Inhelder, whose race was compromised by an earlier spin but not their final result. Fabrizio Zamuner and Denny Zardo brought their Giulia Sprint GTA home in ninth, ahead of Carlo Barbolini Cionini, while André Kardol in his GT Veloce 2000 and the Salvatore Carbone-Marco Leva pairing completed the classified finishers. Alongside Laber, Hans Luginbühl was also forced to retire following a gearbox failure, while Fred Arve Monsen was unable to start the race after suffering an engine failure in qualifying.

In the E/F Group, Giovanni Serio and Franco Mischis converted Saturday’s pole position into their first victory of the season aboard the Carrera Team Giulia Sprint GTA. Luigi Orestano marked his championship debut with a convincing second-place finish, while Roberto Lonardi completed the podium in his Scuderia Nuvolari Giulietta Spider Veloce.

The third meeting of the season has also reshaped the championship standings. In the E/F Group, Giovanni Serio and Franco Mischis move to the top of the table with 26 points, ahead of Alessandro and Emanuele Morteo on 21, while Roberto Lonardi strengthens his hold on third place with 19 points. In G/H/I, Davide Bertinelli extends his championship lead to 44.5 points, with Peter Bachofen and Dario Inhelder sharing second place on 20.5 points alongside Fabrizio Zamuner and Carlo Barbolini Cionini. Thanks to their second consecutive victory, Massimo and Marco Guerra move onto 20 points, firmly rejoining the title fight ahead of the final two rounds of the season. In the Teams’ standings, Alfa Delta OKP retains the lead on 41.5 points, with Carrera Team second on 28.

The Alfa Revival Cup returns to action on 25-26 September at the legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit for the fourth round of the 2026 season.
