Alfa Revival Cup 2026: Varano Reshuffles the Balance of Power

Massimo and Marco Guerra claim victory in the G/H/I category, while Francesco Pantaleo prevails in E/F

09 June, 2026: The second round of the Alfa Revival Cup at Varano de’ Melegari saw Massimo and Marco Guerra secure victory in the G/H/I category aboard the Carrera Team’s Giulia Sprint GTA. Davide Bertinelli finished second in his 1750 GTAm, while Mathias and Fabian Körber completed the podium in their Alfa Delta OKP GTAm.

In the E/F category, Francesco Pantaleo took victory in the Carrera Team’s Giulia Sprint GTA. Giovanni Serio and Franco Mischis secured second place, while brothers Emanuele and Alessandro Morteo completed the podium in their Giulietta TI.

The opening stages of the G/H/I race were defined by the battle between Davide Bertinelli and Marco Guerra. After securing pole position in qualifying with his Alfa Delta OKP 1750 GTAm, Bertinelli initially set the pace, but it was the Carrera Team driver who gradually took control of the race, building an advantage that would ultimately prove decisive over the course of the one-hour contest.

Behind them, an intense fight developed for the leading positions. Peter Bachofen occupied the podium places throughout the first part of the race, while Mathias Körber steadily worked his way forward before handing over to Fabian Körber in the Alfa Delta OKP 1750 GTAm. Fellow Alfa Delta OKP drivers Carlo Barbolini Cionini and Fred Arve Monsen also remained firmly in contention at the front of the field.

Following the mandatory driver-change window, Massimo Guerra consolidated the advantage built by his son Marco and guided the car to the chequered flag. Bertinelli secured a valuable second-place finish for his championship campaign, while Mathias and Fabian Körber completed the podium after a consistent and steadily improving performance. Among the Alfa Delta OKP entries, Carlo Barbolini Cionini finished fourth ahead of Fred Arve Monsen, while Fabrizio Zamuner and Stefan Rollwagen delivered a solid run in their Giulia Sprint GTA. Points were also scored by André Kardol in his GT Veloce 2000 for Alfa Race Team and Gianluca Bardelli in the Alfetta GT America.

The race’s major turning point came on lap 36, when the 1750 GTAm shared by Peter Bachofen and Dario Inhelder retired during Inhelder’s stint while running comfortably in third place. The season debut of Fabio Gimignani, representing Scuderia Biondetti, also came to an early end, as he was forced to retire his GT Veloce 2000 after completing more than half the race distance. Meanwhile, Mugello overall winners Lorenzo Moramarco and Alessandro Morteo were unable to take the start due to an engine issue on their Alfetta GT Turbodelta.

In the E/F category, Francesco Pantaleo controlled the race from the front, maintaining his advantage over his closest challengers throughout. Behind him, Giovanni Serio and Franco Mischis confirmed the pace they had already shown at Mugello, securing second place after spending the entire race among the frontrunners. Emanuele and Alessandro Morteo completed the podium in their Giulietta TI, while Marco Milla and Francesco Moramarco brought the second Giulietta TI entered for the weekend safely to the finish.

On the championship front, Bertinelli’s second-place finish at Varano strengthens his lead in the G/H/I standings with 30 points. Behind him, however, the battle remains wide open, with Monsen moving up to 17 points and Massimo and Marco Guerra climbing to 15, while a tightly packed group of contenders continues to keep multiple championship scenarios alive heading into the coming rounds.

In the E/F standings, the podium finish at Varano allows Emanuele and Alessandro Morteo to extend their lead at the top of the championship, with Giovanni Serio and Franco Mischis remaining their closest challengers.

The Alfa Revival Cup will return to action on 18–19 July at the Autodromo “Piero Taruffi” di Vallelunga. After Mugello and Varano, the third round of the season promises another chapter in a championship where the balance of power continues to shift from race to race.
