November 15, 2024: After a long and hard-fought season, Davide Bertinelli from Team Gatti has clinched the 2024 Alfa Revival Cup Championship. The thrilling finale unfolded at Misano World Circuit, where the leaderboard took an unexpected twist. A mechanical failure for the GTAm driven by Emilio Petrone and Giacomo Barri, who were holding a 4-point lead, opened the door for the Arese driver to claim victory.
The rivalry between the two teams heated up in the latter part of the season, with alternating victories and second places setting up the ultimate showdown. Although Peter Praller (Formula GT team) won the season opener at Vallelunga and Petrone-Barri took the second round at the Red Bull Ring, Daniele Perfetti (OKP Alfa Delta Racing Team) surged to the top of the standings in the first two rounds with two solid second-place finishes. Round 3 at Magione marked a turning point, reigniting the battle. In a nail-biting finish, Bertinelli edged out Barri, who was hot on his heels after a spectacular comeback. Following this race at the Umbria Autodrome, Petrone-Barri and Bertinelli were tied at the top, both benefiting from Perfetti’s absence. At Vallelunga, Petrone and Barri emerged victorious after an intense race, but only managed a 3-point lead over Bertinelli, who secured second place on the podium.
At Mugello, Barri raced courageously to honor his teammate Petrone, who tragically passed away in a car accident. Despite his victory, he couldn’t pull away from Bertinelli, who finished second on the podium again. This meant the championship would be decided in the final race at Misano. Other strong contenders, such as Francesco Pantaleo and Antonio Crescenti, along with German drivers Bernhard Laber and Lukas Stojetz, no longer had the mathematical possibility to challenge the top two. Thus, the Alfa Revival Cup became a two-way contest for the ultimate title in the final stretch.
In the last race, an unexpected twist emerged: while the two title contenders were locked in battle, Barri’s gearbox gave out, and Davide Bertinelli, now in the lead, crossed the finish line as the undisputed winner.
Emilio Petrone and Giacomo Barri from OKP Alfa Delta Racing Team took second place, with Francesco Pantaleo and Antonio Crescenti finishing third and claiming the top spot in the F TC 1600 class. The Sicilian duo delivered a stellar season in their Carrera team’s Giulia Sprint GTA.
In the G2 TC 2000 class, the most competitive and crowded on the grid, Davide Bertinelli finished ahead of Emilio Petrone and Giacomo Barri, with Bernhard Laber and Lukas Stojetz securing third after an exciting season that kept them consistently at the front of the field.
Fausto Amendolagine, the Roman driver from Scuderia Capannone Garage, took the H1 T 2000 class title in his GT Veloce 2000, while teammate Marco Milla won the H1 T 1600 class with his Giulia Super.
The final performance index standings awarded first place to the duo of Francesco Pantaleo and Antonio Crescenti, with Davide Bertinelli in second and Bernhard Laber and Lukas Stojetz rounding out the top three.
The OKP Alfa Delta Racing Team, boasting a high number of strong cars and drivers, triumphed over Carrera Team in the team standings, taking the honor of top squad.
This fantastic and thrilling year would not have been possible without the large, high-quality grids in every class, thanks to many international teams. A huge thank you to everyone involved, and see you in 2025.
The season will conclude with an awards event organized by Canossa, dedicated to all the stars of the 2024 Alfa Revival Cup.
