Halfway point of the 2024 Alfa Revival Cup season with Round 4 at the Vallelunga circuit

After the summer break, everything is ready for the fourth round of the Alfa Revival Cup at the Vallelunga circuit.

September 12, 2024: The action will kick off at 9:05 AM on Saturday morning with a 25-minute free practice session, when cars and drivers will take to the asphalt of the Lazio circuit, which already hosted the first race weekend of this season back in April.

The atmosphere will evoke the classic races of the past, with cars in perfect condition and high-level preparations. Bringing prestige to the starting grid will be 26 cars, divided between GTAm, Giulia Sprint GTA, Giulia Super, GT Veloce 2000, Alfetta GT 6 2500, and GT Junior 1600: fast, precise, effective.

The day on Saturday will continue with the 30-minute qualifying session at 3:05 PM, which will determine the starting positions. The green light for the 60-minute race will go off at 12:15 PM on Sunday.

Let’s discover the key players of the weekend. Returning for this fourth round are Emilio Petrone and Giacomo Barri with the GTAm #50 from the OKP Alfa Delta Racing Team, Carlo Barbolini Cionini and Raffaele Raimondi with the GTAm #356 from the Circolo della Biella team, Stefano Barbieri and Kevin Giovesi with the GTAm #96 from the AMG RS team, and Davide Bertinelli with the GTAm #87 prepared by the Gatti team. Also present will be Marco Milla and Massimo Lupoli with the Giulia Super #20 from the Scuderia Capannone Garage team, Francesco Pantaleo and Antonio Crescenti with the Giulia Sprint GTA #25, and Giovanni Serio and Massimo Guerra with the Giulia Sprint GTA #16 from the Carrera Team.

As for new participants and welcome returns, we have Niccoló Mercatali, who, together with his father, has formed a duo of drivers known as the “Flying Pharmacists.” They return to Vallelunga with Walter Ben and the GTAm #98, flying the flag for the Scuderia Clemente Biondetti. In the same team is Fabio Gimignani with his GT Veloce 2000. Making their season debut are brothers Mattia and Giulio Sordi, both in their early twenties, driving the Giulia Super #108 from the OKP Alfa Delta Racing Team. They are familiar faces in the Alfa Revival Cup and return to the track to show that vintage cars are also loved by the younger generation.

Confirming the international appeal of the series, Swiss driver Alberto Franceschetti from the Formula GT team will be present, a passionate driver already involved in the Modena Cento Ore, organized by Canossa. Also from Switzerland are Peter Bachofen, paired with Fabrizio Zamuner in the GTAm #85 from the OKP Alfa Delta Racing Team. Coming all the way from South America is Julio Diaz Magallanes, a Uruguayan resident of Buenos Aires, who discovered the Alfa Revival Cup and couldn’t resist signing up for the Vallelunga round. He will be at the wheel of the GT Junior 1600 #64 with the Scuderia Capannone Garage team. The grid will also feature a large contingent of German drivers: Peter Praller with the Giulia Sprint GTA #67 and Jürgen Ludwig with the Giulia Sprint GTA #32, both from the Formula GT team, joined by Bernhard Laber and Lukas Stojetz with the GTAm #69 from the OKP Alfa Delta Racing Team.

Edoardo Caponi and Fabrizio Sabatini will compete with the GTAm #86 from the Jolly Car Squadra Corse team. Unfortunately, this round will miss the other GTAm from Tuscan team and Benedetto Cardillo from the OKP Alfa Delta Racing Team, as they were unable to prepare their cars in time after the Magione round. We will see them back on track for Round 5 at Mugello circuit.

Marco Guerra and Emanuele Benedini have switched to the GTAm #88 from the Carrera Team. The GTAm #95 from the OKP Alfa Delta Racing Team will feature a surprise, as Ambrogio Perfetti, brother of Daniele, will be racing.

The GTAm class (G2 TC2000) remains the most crowded, but the number of cars in the GT Veloce 2000 class (H1 T 2000) is also increasing. Three new faces in this class are Carlo Fabbrini (#60), Edoardo Acciai (#61), and Fabio Gimignani (#62), all part of the Scuderia Clemente Biondetti, who will aim to challenge Fausto Amendolagine’s lead from Scuderia Capannone Garage. In this round, Amendolagine will share the wheel of the GT Veloce 2000 #44 with Gianluca Bardelli, as they did in Round 1.

Looking at the overall standings, tied for the lead are the duo of Emilio Petrone and Giacomo Barri and Davide Bertinelli with 62 points, with Bernhard Laber and Lukas Stojetz in second place with 48.5 points. In third, tied with 44 points, are Daniele Perfetti and the pair of Francesco Pantaleo and Antonio Crescenti.
