September 7, 2023: Alfa Revival Cup’s final sprint begins this weekend at the Vallelunga track. On the magnificent Roman circuit, the protagonists of the Canossa championship are ready to battle with different goals. There are those who will aim high and those who will race with a pinch of attention while also looking at the standings.
Only spectacular and beautiful tracks for the Alfa Romeos of the championship organized by Canossa Events. After Mugello, Red Bull Ring and Monza, on September 8 and 9 there will be another international circuit, homologated for F1: Vallelunga. The track has a great history: it was born in 1951 and is named after Piero Taruffi, it is 4,085 meters long and will engage the protagonists of the Alfa Revival Cup in a range of curves that includes slow points (curves of the Semaphore and Tornantino) and very fast sections (Curvone and Cimini). There are spectacular gradients and very hard-braking zones that will exalt the pleasure of driving and will make direct comparisons between the various models of Alfa Romeo that will get on track even more adrenaline-filled.
In all three events that have taken place so far, uncertainty and balance have been perfect, to the point that there have been three different winners and nobody has been able to get on the podium twice. Will this balance be interrupted on the Roman circuit? Will we have other names that will celebrate on Sunday on the podium? We can’t wait to find out.
In Vallelunga there will be two of the three winners of this season: Daniele Perfetti (GTAm – OKP Alfa Delta Racing Team) and Davide Bertinelli (GTAm – Scuderia AB Motorsport). The Swiss driver has won the Red Bull Ring race in Austria, while Bertinelli won in a fiery duel against Franco Monguzzi (GTAm – Scuderia Clemente Biondetti).
In the overall standings, Michael Erlich (OKP Alfa Delta Racing Team) and his splendid Giulia Sprint GTA are on top with 12.5 points ahead of Mathias Körber (GTAm – OKP Alfa Delta Racing Team), one of the most consistent drivers up to this point, able to close every race in the top-5. Slightly more detached and in the chase, there are Edoardo Caponi and Fabrizio Sabatini
(GTAm – Jolly Car Squadra Corse): the Tuscan couple has had an excellent season so far, peaking with the podium in Monza, and is eager to aim for the top of the championship.
Erlich is also on top, with a wide margin, in the standings of his class, the FTC 1600, above the pair composed by Francesco Ramacciotti and Maurizio Ravi Pinto (Giulia TI Super – Scuderia del grifone).
The large group of the G2 TC 2000 class, in which the GTAms are the absolute protagonists, is led by Mathias Körber, who will have to watch his back in Vallelunga and Misano from the threats of the direct pursuers, led by Caponi-Sabatini, detached by only 2 points.
After the setback at Monza, Peter Bachofen and Roberto Restelli (GTAm – OKP Alfa Delta Racing Team) are certainly expected to return to the top positions. As of right now, they are third in the standings ahead of Matteo Kamata (GTAm – OKP Alfa Delta Racing Team). Emilio Petrone and Giacomo Barri close the top five (GTAm – Scuderia del Portello).
At the top of the other classes there are Peter Praller (Class G1 GR.5 1600 – Formula GT), Fabrizio Zamuner (Class G2 GTS 1600 – OKP Alfa Delta Racing Team), the pair of Christian Ondrak and Massimo Bortolami (Class I GR.5 1600 – OKP Alfa Delta Racing Team) and Benedetto Cardillo (Class I GR.5 2000).
The leaders of the I TC 2500, Francesco Liberatore and Francesco Zadotti (Scuderia del Grifone), at the end of their beautiful performance in Monza, promised to bring their Alfetta GT6 2500 as soon as possible on the overall podium. The home race could give an additional boost to the two Roman drivers.
Up to this point in the championship, Peter Praller has been the only one able to put a different model from the Giulia GTAm in the top three. Praller finished second at the Red Bull Ring at the wheel of his Giulia Sprint GTA.
The female honor will be kept up, as always, by the German Ute Schreiber (GTAm – Formula GT), who races in the most numerous and fierce class, the G2TC 2000.
